Start with the reference you have.
A project can begin with a hand-drawn sketch, photograph, idea or an existing CAD file. From there, our CAD team develops the design around the intended piece — its proportions, gemstones, setting, construction and finish.
If you already have a CAD file, we can review it and make any adjustments needed before production.
Typical CAD development takes approximately 2–3 days, depending on the complexity of the design.

Before a piece moves into production, the important details need to work together. Proportion, gemstones, setting and construction are considered as part of the same design.
Metal and stones
The proposed metal, stone shape and intended setting all inform the design. Gold and platinum choices can be explored in the context of the piece; read our materials guide. If stones have not been chosen, gemstone sourcing can be part of the wider brief.
Finish and structure
Setting, surface finish and construction need to work together so the piece can move clearly from design into the workshop.

This is where proportions, stone placement, setting details and the overall appearance can be checked and adjusted if needed.
Once the design is approved, the project can move forward into production with a clear reference for the workshop.

When you send a design enquiry, consider these prompts as questions to answer rather than a required checklist:
- What is the intended piece, and who is it for?
- Which views, sketches or photographs communicate the desired shape?
- What metal direction and stone details are known, and what remains undecided?
- Will customer-supplied stones be involved where appropriate? If so, what information about them is available?
- Which details are essential to the design, and which are open to discussion?
- Is the intended outcome a finished jewel, semi-mount or unset piece?
These answers help start a useful conversation; they do not prescribe a particular CAD file format, number of review rounds or approval policy. Manufacturing is approximately 1–2 weeks depending on the job after design development; discuss your project timing in the enquiry.
